Ground Reinforcement

Ground reinforcement technology - D-BOX construction method -

The basic strength principle of D · BOX

Putting soil in a bag or other such container and applying a load from above to flatten and stretch the bag produces tension throughout the bag. As a result, the soil particles are pushed inward, generating friction between the soil particles. The fundamental strength of D-BOX comes from the force of friction generated between particles as tension is applied that acts as a sort of “glue.”

Fundamental principle of D-BOX strength

When vibration enters from the outside, D-BOX will deform, but by an extremely small amount. At this time, particles that have solidified inside D-BOX will try to move, generating even more frictional force. In short, D-BOX weakens the input vibrations by converting vibrational energy into frictional energy.

Internal restraint effect of D-BOX

D-BOX serves to constrain the filling material from the inside and to increase its ability to withstand pressure and reduce vibration. D-BOX can therefore demonstrate its strength even when installed on extremely soft ground without any ground counterforce.

D-BOX method of construction

D-BOX is constructed by packing the filling materials in high-quality bags having standardized performance and reinforcing the ground in various situations to ensure stable performance. Another benefit is that it reduces external vibrations from an earthquake or traffic and serves as a countermeasure against liquefaction.

Example applications

Housing foundation reinforcement, wall foundation reinforcement, roadbed
